All riders placed very well in their groups with Tara gaining 2 x 2nds, Gabriella a 4th & 6th Cameron 2 x 3rd and Caitlin 2 x 9th. It was a very competitive group so congratulations to our riders this is the best result in some time for our zone.

Brittany Temple joined with 3 zone 1 riders to place 5th overall with a 3rd & 4th placing. It was great to see some new faces travelling to compete for the zone and enjoying the experience you should all be very proud of the way you represented the zone.

Showjumping: Report by Sonia & Tim Moffatt:

Zone 4 Coaching & Showjumping at West Toowoomba - 4th & 5th October 2014

On Saturday the 4th October zone 4 held a showjumping coaching clinic at the Toowoomba showgrounds. We had Robert Moffatt and Danae O’Keeffe providing an hour lesson to each child in a group of 4 riders. It is not often that this opportunity arises to get 2 hours coaching for $20.00. We had 32 pony club members throughout the zone take part in the day. Thank you to the zone for providing this for our riders it was very much appreciated.

Sunday saw the zone 4 Showjumping Championship being run with 55 riders taking part in various unofficial and official competition. It was good to see the E grade competition being supported and numbers growing.

It was a very successful weekend thank you to everyone who helped to make this event a success. To our course builders, Tim Moffatt, Michael Laird, Col Greer and Judges Raelene Gotze, Danae O’Keeffe and Michael O’Keeffe for being our TD. Thank you to Jo Sellick for providing our first aid. To all the parents/volunteers who helped as stewards etc it was appreciated and without your help we are unable to run these events for our children.

Thank you to SSIG Group for donating two feeders to us for trophies they were presented to our overall highest point rider. It was great to see Scott with his products feeders and troughs on display.

Taroom State Championships

State Sporting, Campdraft, Formal and Mounted games Report by Denise Fisk

31 Riders from zone 4 attended Taroom with around 300 competitors for the 4 days. We didn’t get off to such a good start with our stables been infested with fleas and the council had to come and spray on the Wednesday.

Campdraft we only had 10 riders, and cattle hard to find every rider only had one beast in the yard. Presentation zone 4 was up in the minor places.

Formal after the downpour that night proving very hard for some to keep their horse nice for the presentation, but one can do only what you can with conditions. 29 riders all went out and done their best as every time there was a ribbon collection a zone 4 rider was there. Kira Holmes winning overall champion in the 11 years age group. Our overall age group placing were high enough I feel we must have just missed 3rd place for overall zone.

Sporting on day 3 had 22 riders with many of these collecting ribbons and minor age group placing at the end of the day with Kiara Bressington receiving age champion for the 11 – 12 years.

Day 4 mounted games – zone 4 had three junior teams which all done very well for the short time they would have been together in making their team.

I would like to congratulate every rider that attended as I was hearing stories all week about how well they were going and been so close it gave the kids that might not be able to attend a state event, let alone go there and win a ribbon. So many kids were so proud of their achievements. Also would like to wish Tamara Robertson all the best as it was her last state event, which I am sure she would have plenty of stories to tell since she has been attending state and inter-state events since she can’t remember so maybe the best time to go to greener pastures – seniors!!

Greer & Lunney Familes

Our thoughts go out to the Greer family and Lunney family after the death by snakebite of two beautiful competition horses, Marty and Claude. We are so sorry - it is every horseowner's worst nightmare. Please know you have the love and support of hundreds of supporters throughout the zone.
